B-Beach Boys-Beatles

The Beach Boys- Pet Sounds: 14 Songs

Isnt it funny how every single song made me think of you? But I think thats what you had up your sleeve anyway, eh? ;) I very much like the Beach Boys. They have a fun sound that makes me just want to bop around but still lyrics that make me think. (Speaking of lyrics, wouldnt it just be so much easier if iPod just automatically put the lyrics to all the songs you download?)

Wouldn't it be nice if we were older

Then we wouldn't have to wait so long
And wouldn't it be nice to live together
In the kind of world where we belong
You know its gonna make it that much better
When we can say goodnight and stay together
Wouldn't it be nice if we could wake up
In the morning when the day is new
And after having spent the day together
Hold each other close the whole night through
The happy times together we've been spending
I wish that every kiss was never ending
Oh Wouldn't it be nice
Maybe if we think and wish and hope and pray it might come true (run, run, run)
Baby then there wouldn't be a single thing we couldn't do
We could be married (we could be married)
And then we'd be happy (then we'd be happy)
Wouldn't it be nice (ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba)
You know it seems the more we talk about it
It only makes it worse to live without it
But lets talk about it
Oh, wouldn't it be nice

Yeah, it would be nice. I love how this song incorporates (mostly) happiness but then a little sadness. "You know it seems the more we talk about it, it only makes it worse to live without it"

The Beatles- Abbey Road: 17 Songs

So I have completed one of the 22 Beatles albums. (My favorite album) All the songs were familiar and I had to try really hard to refrain from belting out the songs in the middle of Walmart. Good thing on my walk with Aden and I didnt have that much self-restraint.

Now onto the remaining 21 Beatles albums. Beatles fan, much? I love it. Thanks :)

Amy Winehouse- Back to Black: 11 Songs

At first I wondered "Why Amy?". I've never given an inkling that I enjoy her music. But then again I guess thats why he put his songs on it for me. Although her single "Rehab" gets on my nerves way too much (I mean, seriously, just go to rehab. Get help, you obviously need it. Don't make a catchy song about it and make rehab seem like something bad). With "Rehab" getting played out on the radio I was hesitant to listen to the rest of her album. But I was very surprised. I actually like her music and voice. Her lyrics in basically all her other songs, but "Rehab" and "Addicted", are true and emotional, like poetry. I guess I can't judge an artist by their one annoying single. Aside from her being a hot mess in her personal life, she is a good artist. Her voice is beautiful and I love her pin-up doll look. But really Amy, get your ass in rehab.

Atreyu- "Right Side of the Bed
Imagine this: I'm walking serenely by the lake pushing my son's stroller and just finishing the soulful music of Amy Winehouse when suddenly all I hear is screaming. RARARARARA! I don't know how I ever enjoyed Screamo. It was just headache inducing. Needless to say, I wasn't feeling this song too much

Bayside- "Masterpiece"

Although another Emo/Hardcore group, I actually really like this song. Its not as scream-y as Atreyu (really, whats the point of screaming? I cant even understand you.) I love this verse:

You're not 18
Anymore, five years should have been enough time

For you to grow up and get over this...
It's Not too cool
To be throwing up all morning sick
From what you might've done or done it with

I can think of some people that that verse is going to remind me of in due time.

Now I'm getting into the Bs and I have a feeling this is going to take me a while. There are 12 "B" artists and a hefty 543 songs. (543?! WHAT?!) Oh yes, this is going to take a whiiiiiiiile.

Alicia Keys- As I Am; Songs in A Minor: 24 Songs

I will forever love Alicia Keys' music, as well as her poetry. Years I read her poetry book, Tears of Water. Her lyrics and poetry are so profound and have such a substantial message. Her songs are about love and female empowerment, not just some silly pop songs. Alicia Keys' music will definitely continue to stay on the iPod. There was one song, however, that, I'm sorry to say, made me think of Felix. Its about feelings I've felt about him. Funny how songs can sometimes get your feelings out better than you can.

"Goodbye"
Mhmn bye bye

How do you love someone

That hurts you oh so bad

With intentions good

Was all he ever had

But how do I let go when I've

Loved him for so long and I've

Given him all that I could

Maybe love is a hopeless crime

Giving up what seems your lifetime

What went wrong with something once so good

How do you find the words to say

To say goodbye (find the words to say good bye)

When your heart don't have the heart to say

To say goodbye (find the words to say good bye)

I know now I was naive

Never knew where this would lead

And I'm not trying to take away

From the good man that he is

But how do I let go when I've

Loved him for so long and I've

Given him all that I could

Was it something wrong that we did

Because others infiltrated

What went wrong with something once so good
How do you find the words to say

To say goodbye (find the words to say good bye)

When your heart don't have the heart to say

To say goodbye (find the words to say good bye)
Is this the end (end)are you sure (are you sure)

How should you know when you've never been here before

It's so hard (hard)to just let go (just let go)
When this is the one and only love I've ever known

So, how do you find the words to say ( when it's been so long )

To say goodbye (find the words to say good bye)(to say good bye)

When your heart don't have the heart to say (mmmmmmmm yeah ohhhh yeah)

To say goodbye (find the words to say good bye)

For You, Phonz

1957 Songs.

100+ Artists.

For Christmas I got an iPod already equipped with all of its GBs worth of songs. Some I have heard, most I have not. Some I'll love, some I'll hate. Before I delete or add anything I am going to listen to every song he put on this iPod. It is 4.8 days worth of music. But between taking care of my one year old son, school, and those lovely little necessities such as eating and sleeping I know it will take me much longer. Hell, it may even take me until next Christmas (in which case I'll be asking Santa for some iTunes gift cards). I'm going to listen while I'm folding laundry, doing homework, taking Aden for walks, while Aden is napping, at the gym (2010 New Years Resolution) etc. But, in the fashion of the Julie/Julia Project, I'm going to listen to every single one, no skipping, and document what I think of these songs. Perhaps this is a lame idea, but I really don't care. Music is supposed to speak volumes, so let's see what it's got to say.
