The Beatles "before they were drug heads"

So its been a really long time and I just didnt really feel like writing anything. It was a combination of us being mad at each other, me busy sick, Aden needing attention, school being school, and me just being lazy and not wanting to write. I have finished all the Beatles albums, excluding the compliations which im skipping since I've already heard all the songs. I checked out the Beatles early albums :
Please Please Me
With the Beatles
A Hard Days Night
Beatles for Sale
Help!

Its insane how you could totally hear the difference in music styles from their early stuff verus the later stuff. As you so comedically put it, there early stuff was "before they were drugheads". I dont know which style I like more. The early stuff are all love songs and happy and fun, they remind me of what would be playing at a school dance in the early 1960s. Their later stuff just feels like youre on a mind trip. I love both, especially how they are on the opposite sides of the spectrum. But in all honestly, I like their later stuff just a tad more. Im not going to go into a detailed thing about each album and my favorite songs from those albums because I really love them all. I cant pick apart which ones in particular that are my favorite (plus im tired and dont want to). But there is this song, for you:

If I fell in love with you
Would you promise to be true
And help me understand
'cause I've been in love before
And I found that love was more
Than just holding hands
If I give my heart to you
I must be sure
From the very start
That you would love me more than her
If I trust in you, oh please
Don't run and hide
If I love you too, oh please
Don't hurt my pride like her
'cause I couldn't stand the pain
And I would be sad if our new love was in vain
So I hope you see that I
Would love to love you
And that she will cry
When she learns we are two
cause I couldn't stand the pain
and I would be sad if our new love was in vain
so I hope you see that I
would love to love you
and that she will cry when she learns we are two.
If I fell in love with you
Since I am incapable of expressing my feelings at times, if you ever need to know how I feel--just listen to this song.

Now im onto to Pink Floyd. As requested. Since it would have taken me 7 months before I got to P.

Beatles: Magical Mystery Tour;Yellow Submarine

Magical Mystery Tour: 11 Songs

I think you said that this album was going to be a total drughead album? I kind of agree. But I kind of love that.
Can I go on this magical mystery thats dying to take me away today, please?
I love how Flying is just all instrumental.
Blue Way Jay kind of scares me, haha.
The music reminds me of that sinister music they play in the background of scary movies when someone is standing on some deserted creepy alley and theres shadows behind them. Yeah...I think ill stay off Blue Jay Way.
There's a fog upon L.A.
And my friends have lost their way
We'll be over soon they said
Now they've lost themselves instead.
Please don't be long please don't you be very long
Please don't be long or I may be asleep
Well it only goes to show
And I told them where to go
Ask a policeman on the street
There's so many there to meet
Please don't be long please don't you be very long
Please don't be long or I may be asleep
Now it's past my bed I know
And I'd really like to go
Soon will be the break of day
Sitting here in Blue Jay Way
Please don't be long please don't you be very long
Please don't be long or I may be asleep.
Please don't be long please don't you be very long
Please don't be long
Please don't be long please don't you be very long
Please don't be long
Please don't be long please don't you be very long
Please don't be long
Don't be long - don't be long - don't be long
Don't be long - don't be long - don't be long.

I dont even need to talk about how much I love I Am Walrus. This is like my favorite song, ever, to quote. Goo goo g'joob.
Strawberry Fields Forever is about a billion times better now that I have actually been to Strawberry Fields. If youre going down to Strawberry Fields, take me down with you..
In a way too complicated way to explain, Hello Goodbye pretty much describes why some of my relationships fail. Hmph.
All You Need is Love needs to be the anthem for every person in the world for the rest of forever. That is all.

Yellow Submarine: 13 Songs

Yellow Submarine was the first Beatles song I EVER heard. And I love love love it. I want to meet some guy that lived in a Yellow Submarine. I cant not bob my head while listening to this song.
All Together Now definitely reminds me of something that would be on the Juno Soundtrack. Haha, I love it in its randomness. See, this is a happy love song.
Hey Bulldog is a great song, mostly because of the lyrics. You know how there are certain songs that the lyrics explain how you feel (yeah I know you do). Well this song explains how I feel at different times:
Sheepdog
Standing in the rain
Bullfrog
Doing it again
Some kind of happiness is measured out in miles
What makes you think you're something special when you smile?
Child-like
No one understands
Jack knife
In your sweaty hands
Some kind of innocence is measured out in years
You don't know what it's like to listen to your fears
You can talk to me
You can talk to me
You can talk to me, if you're lonely you can talk to me
Big man (Yeah)
Walking in the park
Wigwam
Frightened of the dark
Some kind of solitude is measured out in you
You think you know me but you haven't got a clue
You can talk to me
You can talk to me
You can talk to me, if you're lonely you can talk to me

Pepperland, Sea of Time/Holes/Monsters, March of Meaness, Pepperland Laid Waste, Yellow Submarine in Pepperland made me love the Beatles on a whole new level. I didnt expect them to have so much classical-ish instrumental music. Its like a whole different kind of album within the Yellow Submarine album. The music is so beautiful, its like telling a story without words. I listened to these songs while I was laying down on a bench at school, so I was just really to let the music absorb me. And it really was like each song was a story. Pepperland made me envision some nice storybook place, like Alice in Wonderland, where I want to go and everything is cartoon. I love those 7 songs so much and it just made me love the Beatles on a whole new level I didnt even know existed, thanks.

So...whats next?

Let it Be....Naked

Let it Be: 12 Songs

I like this album (duh), it has a chill yet upbeat feel to it. This song reminds me so much of us:
Two of us riding nowhere

Spending someone's
Hard earned pay
You and me Sunday driving
Not arriving
On our way back home
We're on our way home
We're on our way home
We're going home
Two of us sending postcards
Writing letters
On my wall
You and me burning matches
Lifting latches
On our way back home
We're on our way home
We're on our way home
We're going home
You and I have memories
Longer than the road that stretches out ahead
Two of us wearing raincoats
Standing so low
In the sun
You and me chasing paper
Getting nowhere
On our way back home
We're on our way home
We're on our way home
We're going home
You and I have memories
Longer than the road that stretches out ahead
Two of us wearing raincoats
Standing solo
In the sun
You and me chasing paper
Getting nowhere
On our way back home
We're on our way home
We're on our way home
We're going home
We're going home
Better believe it
I think a lot of Beatles songs are going to remind me of you.
Im listening to Dig a Pony right now, I guess the first time I heard it I wasnt really listening to it because now im realizing how much I love the lyrics.
Across the Universe is seriously the best song ever created. By far, my favorite Beatle's song. When I hear it its like no matter what I do, I have to stop. I have to put the volume way up and just close my eyes and meditate. Let the words of the Beatles take me away, forget whatever is going on around me. I can never get tired listening to that song. In fact, I actually did listen to it at least 4 times in a row. I love that song.
Let it Be is another amazingly powerful song on this album. I think the first time I heard Let it Be was actually in the movie Across the Universe. The little black boy is singing it while all around him is rioting and then an older woman starts singing it at his funeral (as well as the funeral of the soldier). That part in the movie made me cry just because of the music. And now listening to the Beatles sing it, I get choked up. Thats one of the reasons I like the Beatles so much. Their music can evoke so many different emotions. Some of their songs make me insanely happy, some just make me sad,and some make me reflective on the world.

Let it Be...Naked: 11 Songs
Yeah. I really cant tell the difference between Let it Be and Let it Be...Naked. Maybe its just that Im not a -what did you call it?-, oh yes, an "audio filer". Because it sounds the same to my naked ear. It was like listening to one album then hearing the same exact songs.

So, as requested the next two albums are Magical Mystery Tour and Yellow Submarine :)

a plethora of Beatles albums

So, yes, I know its been a while and youve been waiting. But here it goes. I'm writing. Happy now? On the plane to NY I was able to finish 4 albums as well as Anthology 3.

Anthology 3: 50 Songs
I'm not really fond of the Anthologies. Yeah, they are cool. But I would have liked it more if I had heard the real albums first. But as is the way it is with alphabetical order. I am happy I was exposed to this though. There are versions that I would have never listened to if it was not put on here. So thank you for that. I love how the last song on Anthology 3 is "The End".

Even though I said I wasnt going to skip, I was yet again asked to. So I will.

Revolver: 14 Songs
I really liked this album. You know, theres an illustration book of the Beatles lyrics and on the page where they have the words to Eleanor Rigby theres a picture of homeless people. When I use to hear this song I always wondered what they were talking about. But that picture made so much sense and now its clear to me what they are talking about. It makes me sad.
Good Day Sunshine is the total walking down the street, with a huge grin on your face, while random people start singing and dancing around and a cartoon bird twitters around song.
Eleanor Rigby picks up the rice in the church where a wedding has been

Lives in a dream
Waits at the window, wearing the face that she keeps in a jar by the door
Who is it for?
All the lonely people
Where do they all come from ?
All the lonely people
Where do they all belong ?

Rubber Soul: 14 Songs
I didnt know most of the songs on this album prior to hearing it (with the exceptions of different versions on the Anthologies) But I look most, if not all of the songs. I like "In My Life" because its so true and I think everyone can pretty much relate to that song.

If I needed someone to love

You're the one that I'd be thinking of
If I needed someone
If I had some more time to spend
Then I guess I'd be with you my friend
If I needed someone
Had you come some other day
Then it might not have been like this
But you see now I'm too much in love
Yeah. You already know. This album definitely puts me in touch with the Ms. Mushy Mush part of myself.

Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club: 13 Songs
I LOVE THIS ALBUM! More than Abbey Road. First off, I love the album cover (hint, hint). I love their little silly little outfits; John looks like a doll. It makes me happy even just looking at the cover. And all the songs made me happy. They have an awesome psychedelic sound to them. Every song sounds like a trip. I honestly cannot find one song that I like the most.  But if I had to it would be this song:
We were talking-about the space between us all

And the people-who hide themselves behind a wall of illusion
Never glimpse the truth-then it's far too late-when they pass away.
We were talking-about the love we all could share-when we find it
To try our best to hold it there-with our love
With our love-we could save the world-if they only knew.
Try to realize it's all within yourself
No-one else can make you change
And to see you're really only very small,
And life flows ON within you and without you.
We were talking-about the love that's gone so cold and the people,
Who gain the world and lose their soul-
They don't know-they can't see-are you one of them?
When you've seen beyond yourself-then you may find, peace of mind,
Is waiting there-
And the time will come when you see
we're all one, and life flows on within you and without you.
How beautiful are those lyrics? Im glad you told me to listen to the lyrics closer.

The White Album: 30 Songs
I really like this album too. (Basically, I really like every Beatles album, I dont think I need to say it--its a given) My two favorite songs on this album are "Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da" and "I Will" [when im feeling sappy]. I listened to this album on my night flight back to FL from New York. I was singing and shaking all around to Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da and I guess the volume was really high up because the stewardess smiled at me, haha. I think if someone told me they liked my face, I'd say the same thing :)    This song puts me in touch with my sappy mushy parts:
Who knows how long I've loved you

You know I love you still
Will I wait a lonely lifetime
If you want me to, I will.
For if I ever saw you
I didn't catch your name
But it never really mattered
I will always feel the same.
Love you forever and forever
Love you with all my heart
Love you whenever we're together
Love you when we're apart.
And when at last I find you
Your song will fill the air
Sing it loud so I can hear you
Make it easy to be near you
For the things you do endear you to me
Oh, you know, I will
I will.
This is going to play at my wedding. Okay?

New York City

Again unrelated to the iPod. I finally was in New York City and it was, excuse my language, fucking amazing. I wasnt going to touch up on NYC but then I realized that a lot of the places we went to had musical inspirations.

Strawberry Fields:
Of course we had to go to Strawberry Fields in Central Park. We sat around the Imagine circle and went across the street to the Dakota to see where John Lennon was shot.

Cafe Wha?:
We went to this club in Greenwich Village. It was the very same club Jimi Hendrix and Bob Dylan started out in the 1960s. The house band was alright, I would have loved it if they played more classic rock. But it was just so cool to think that I was in the very same spot I was in Jimi Hendrix had played. The ledge I rested my hand on Jimi or Bob could have rested their hand on too, years ago. That club has history, that I love.

Hair:
The musical Hair on Broadway was awesome. It was all about the hippie movement: peace, love, and happiness. It was freaking awesome. The stage was effects were wonderful and the actors were great. It was funny, a bit sad, and totally shocking when the entire cast got naked. The musical numbers were marvelous. Afterwards my two favorite characters signed my playbill, which was so cool.

Birdland Jazz Club:
We went to a jazz club for dinner after the musical. This was the only thing I didnt really enjoy. I've never been to a jazz club before and I dont really listen to jazz music too much but it wasnt what I expected. I was looking forward to some chill music but it was really loud and not so chill. There was a lady in the bathroom who said to me "do you understand this? I see people bobbing their heads but theres no beat. It just sounds like noise to me". Part of me concurs.

Hookah Bar:
Hookahs arent really related to music but at the hookah bar we went to there was a lot of music playing. Specifically there was Indian music playing. Its a new sound, but I am starting to enjoy the sound of Indian music.

New York City was the best time I have ever had in my entire life. I am not even exaggerating. I am so grateful for the opportunity to go. Thank you.

A quick detour

So with the beginning of school and Aden, as well as the fact that I havent quick finished Anthology 2 I havent written yet. But, just a quick detour to something completely, but not entirely, non-related to the iPod.
Hey There Deliah
Whats it like in New York City
I'm a thousand miles away, but girl tonight you look so pretty
Yes you do
Time Square cant shine as bright as you
You know its true
Although Im not talking to Deliah, I WILL know what its like in New York City later tonight and I wont be a thousand miles away because I will be, in fact, IN TIME SQUARE! AHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!

Excited is an understatement.

Beatles- Anthology 1

The Beatles- Anthology 1: 57 Songs

So I have completed Anthology 1 and am now working on Anthology 2. Anthology 1 was like a plethora of love songs, in my opinion at least. Its like every other song was about love, which is just fine by me because the Beatles make love songs happy and fun and dont annoy me at all, unlike a lot of other love songs. (Besame Mucho, btw, made me giggle-I dont know why. Maybe its the way they say "besame mucho") This sounds somewhat similiar, the kind of situation where someone is loved by one person but there is another person, who may have hurt that someone, also in love with that person. Yeah. You know what I'm talking about:

That boy took my love away,

He'll regret it someday,
But this boy wants you back again.
That boy isn't good for you,
Tho' he may want you too,
This boy wants you back again.
Oh, and this boy would be happy,
Just to love you, but oh my-yi-yi-yi,
That boy won't be happy,
Till he's seen you cry-hi-hi-hi.
This boy wouldn't mind the pain,
Would always feel the same,
If this boy gets you back again.
This boy. This boy. this boy.
Well, I dont know. I just dont. Felix asked me to take a chance on him, and of course that Abba song "Take A Chance on Me" (which I dont think is on the iPod by the way, I dont see any Abba-- or Mamma Mia, for that matter) played in my head. But I cant take a chance on anyone but me (and school and Aden, respectively).
Anyway, I enjoyed Anthology 1. Pretty much I am going to enjoy every and all Beatles album. On my flight to New York (!!!!!!!!) I'll be listening to nonstop Beatles [I still have like 9 hours of music left to go through] I'll be fine with that :)
